I often talk about the various transitions our students and parents face during the course of the school year. It has dawned on me that we are always in transition in our lives; we are constantly changing, integrating and evolving as we learn, grow, reflect and respond. It is simply amazing to watch our preadolescents develop and mature on their journey through the Middle School. They undergo unprecedented changes during this time in their lives as they become more independent, self-reliant, resilient, and intuitive. Parent roles also change as they begin to let go and become coaches and sideline supporters. Though this is difficult, it is a necessary shift in the metamorphosis of middle level learners. Now is a good time for parents to reflect on important goals to assist their children in becoming the adults they are destined to be.
